Asychronous narrative workshop

My earliest memory of ecological issues was in primary school when one of our teachers told me about this trip with my classmates, and then I couldn't hear anything else said, all I cared about at that time was to spend time with my friends, so I naturally agreed. Afterwards, I realized that this trip meant a lot more. Every Saturday we had to meet up with everyone at a scheduled place and go to all these other areas to clean up all the rubbish on the ground. I vividly remember all these little adventures we had every week, but I didn't quite understand how important they were, and how crucial it is for a child to sympathize more with the earth. And they did do exactly that, because the fact that we had to pick up all the waste made from other people, it made me think about it more about next time I would want to throw something on the ground, and to try and help the environment as much as I could. I remember how we had to wake up so early and how cold it was at that time, I remember all the equipment we were given: gloves, bin bags and what we've brought from home. For a child at that age, I mostly cared about talking to my friends, and that is what we would do most of the time, clean up the roads while also sharing stories with my friends. However, although the actual pressing issue didn't make much sense for me at the time, I did understand it better later on. I think of this memory as very fond to me because these outings seemed fun for a child, but now I realize that it's a much greater point the teachers were trying to get across.
